Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) – Barista Skills Professional Certificate
This module is for highly experienced baristas who have completed Intermediate level. Ideal for Head Baristas looking to provide in house training or to start competing at a professional level.
Candidates should have completed and PASSED Barista Intermediate module before attend this course.
This advanced course provides advanced practical application of espresso theory. Using refractometry we explore the science of espresso preparation. We examine machine technology and how it interacts with optimal extraction. We give you training in water chemistry and maintenance using the langlier index. You will learn how to score your espresso to competition standard for the best taste balance, flavours and texture.
The course provides you with the key information to enable you to sit your Barista Skills Professional certification that consists of 4 practical tests and a written exam (35 questions with a pass rate of 80% required). Successful students will be awarded 25 points towards the SCA Coffee Skills Program.
